I turn early engineering teams into organizations. I've done it three times. I'm doing it twice more right now.
Engineering leader specializing in building and scaling product engineering organizations. Head of US Engineering at Honeycomb Insurance. Founder of Streamtier and Fjord.
I'm Travis Williams, and I specialize in the phase most companies underestimate: after the MVP ships and before the org can actually scale. That gap — between "it works" and "we can build on this" — is where process debt compounds, hiring goes sideways, and technical decisions made at speed start costing real money. I've closed that gap at SteelSeries and ActiveCampaign, and I'm doing it again at Honeycomb Insurance as Head of US Engineering.
Most of that work starts the same way: inherited shortcuts, unclear ownership, and a team executing without structure. I fix that first, then build — because sustainable growth needs both. I measure success by what the org looks like after I've been there a year, not by how fast I shipped in the first month.
Outside of my day job, I'm building two products as a founder. Streamtier is a marketplace connecting game publishers with mid-tier streamers — a market gap with a real moat and a pre-launch timeline. Fjord is a budgeting app built around the premise that most financial tools are psychologically destructive for the people who need them most. I'm making the product, architecture, and business decisions on both.
I write regularly about leadership strategy and engineering. If you're scaling a product org and need someone who's done this before, let's talk →
